Carlos Jacanamijoy
Was born in Santiago Putumayo. He holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the National University of Colombia. He pursued studies in Philosophy and Letters at the University of La Salle and earned a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies from the Pontifical Javeriana University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with thesis publication.
He has had solo exhibitions, among others, at the Smithsonian Museum in New York and Washington, Casa de América in Madrid, Spain, the Workers’ Palace in China, and the Palace of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2013, the Museum of Modern Art in Bogotá presented his first retrospective titled “Magic, Memory, Color.”
Seven books have been published about his work, and it is held in public and private collections in Colombia, France, Germany, England, Venezuela, Mexico, and the United States. In 2020, he held an exhibition at the Museum of Cultural History of Norway in Oslo, and in 2021, an exhibition at the Korea Foundation in Seoul, South Korea.
